Asia-Pacific Digital Societies Policy Forum 2017
The Asia-Pacific Digital Societies Policy Forum 2017 will take place 8-9 May 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand and will focus on policy and regulatory measures in the context of digital societies.
The Forum seeks to convene policy makers, regulators, industry and other stakeholders from the ICT sector to deliberate challenges and potential opportunities through cross sectoral collaboration offered by digital societies in countries from the Asia-Pacific Region. The content will focus on policy and regulatory measures ensuring hyper-connected society, digital economy and society, digital innovation promotion and other emerging issues in the digital society.
Building inclusive digital societies entails addressing the basic requirements that would enable all citizens to take advantage of the socio-economic benefits that ICTs bring. This involves not only Internet connectivity, but also components such as digital literacy, locally relevant content and targeted investments to low-income, rural and marginalised communities.
An interactive panel at the Forum, attended by ESCAP IDD, will share insights on successful partnerships and interventions, and deliberate on how lessons learned, along with findings from recent studies on Internet access, can inform and align stakeholders’ priorities as we work towards achieving the UN SDGs.
The Forum will take place on 8-9 May 2017 at Centara Grand at Central World, Bangkok, Thailand. The Forum is being jointly organized by ITU and GSMA with support from the Australian Government and partners and is the third in a series of ITU-GSMA Digital Societies Policy Forum for the Asia-Pacific region.
