Dzuds and E-Resilience
A dzud is a natural disaster consisting of a summer drought followed by very heavy winter snow, winds and lower-than-normal temperatures. Dzuds occur when the winter conditions – particularity heavy snow cover – prevent livestock from accessing pasture or from receiving adequate hay and fodder. The E-Resilience Toolkit offers insights into a spectrum of available ICT tools and best practices that may benefit policymakers, DRM professionals and vulnerable communities in the Asia-Pacific region to enhance e-resilience and disaster risk management in the context of dzuds.
