20th Meeting of the Regional Interagency Working Group on Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
On 11 November 2016 the 20th Meeting of the Regional Inter-agency Working Group on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will take place in the ITU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, Training Center, Bangkok. The meeting is co-convened by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT) and the ITU.
The main objectives of the meeting are to provide updates on the progress made by agencies in their activities in the area of ICT and sustainable development and to coordinate in common areas of interest. Participants from UN agencies, funds and programmes including related regional organisations were invited to the meeting.
ESCAP is to present its work on ICT and development, particularly, the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway Master Plan and Regional Cooperation Framework; the regional review on the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) action line implementation; and the ICT-related capacity building programmes by United Nations Asian and Pacific Centre Training for Information and Communications Technology for Development (APCICT); and the Asia-Pacific ICT & DRR Online Gateway.
