WSIS Regional Group Meeting: emerging technologies with no one left behind in Asia and the Pacific
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) will be hosting a session titled, ‘WSIS Regional Group Meeting: emerging technologies with no one left behind in Asia and the Pacific’, at the WSIS Forum 2019, on Thursday 11 April 2019, at Room K2, at the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), Geneva. Capitalizing on multi-stakeholder partnerships, the session aims to highlight regional cooperation and regional initiatives as one dimension of narrowing the digital divide and implementing the WSIS action lines for the ultimate objective of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The speakers of the session include representatives of member countries, international organizations, the private sector and academia. The discussions will focus on Asia-Pacific challenges, opportunities and effective means and mechanisms of regional cooperation in addressing the digital divide, including the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway (AP-IS).
